A standard urinalysis panel covers three phases of evaluation. The test covers:
Physical Properties
Evaluates color, transparency (clarity), and specific gravity (concentration) to detect hydration and bile markers.
Chemical Profile
Tests pH, proteins (albumin), glucose (sugar), ketones, blood (hematuria), bilirubin, and nitrites.
Microscopic Review
Identifies presence of pus cells (WBCs), epithelial cells, red blood cells (RBCs), crystals, and bacteria.
When is a Urine Routine Test Needed?
Burning sensation while urinating, dark or cloudy urine, frequent urge to urinate, pelvic pain, or back pain.
No fasting is needed. Collect mid-stream clean catch urine in the sterile container provided by the phlebotomist. Morning sample is preferred but not mandatory.
